Random Acts of Self-Kindness

This week is Random Acts of Kindness Week and we’re encouraged to give back in simple, but kind ways. There are countless ways we can show up and be kind in the lives of those around us – whether they be close friends or family members or complete strangers. Another powerful way to spread kindness is to start with you. As Iyanla Vanzant said so beautifully, “You have to fill your cup first before it can overflow for others”.

Here are a few ways you can show kindness to yourself this week but feel free to get creative and find those ways which most support you.

  • Go to bed an hour early

  • Have coffee with a friend

  • Turn off your cell phone for an evening

  • Have lunch away from your desk

  • Go for a walk

  • Go on a date with someone you love or take yourself on a date

  • Watch the sunrise or sunset

  • Get a massage

You get the idea. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, effort or money. It’s about remembering that you are important too and the best person to take care of you, is you. My challenge to you (and to myself) is to do at least one random kind thing for you this week. You deserve it.
